As some of you may know, I had surgery to remove a vestibular schwannoma in early 2006 discovered after an incident which will have a ten-year-anniversary coming up this year on October 25. I have since been deaf in my right ear and follow up with an annual MRI.

I am sorry to say it was recently discovered that the brain tumor is back. I am lucky to have loved ones, family and friends (and a lovely cat) at my side during this difficult time. As per my neurosurgeon’s advice, I plan to pursue a radiation treatment with the hopes of halting its growth. I share this to help raise awareness of what is also known as an acoustic neuroma. If you experience hearing loss, ringing in the ear, headaches or any of the other symptoms listed, it is worth getting checked out.

I have some college gigs and a public appearance at Madison Square Park lined up for the Fall 2015 season that I plan on following through with before I am temporarily out of commission. If you can, come by and share some love and laughter. I’m not particularly religious but genuinely appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Life is short. Live it up! Be happy.
